I've got a Dell E1505/6400 laptop running at 1440x900, but today I've bought a Dell 22" monitor with a native resolution of 1920x1080. I really want to use this monitor solely when it is connected and have the laptop screen switch off. The problem I am having is that I cannot get a resolution over 1440x900, which is not only too low, but also the wrong aspect. Additionally, the laptop screen remains on when I shut the screen, which is just a waste of power.
The graphics card is an ATI x1400 Mobility.
Anyone got any ideas/pointers of how I can do this?
