I'm using BenQ P53 Laptop, AMD Athlon X2 64
DVD RW Optiarc AD-7560S ATA Device
Tried to boot and install Ubuntu 8.04
FAILED. "No CD-ROM detected"
Successfully installed trial on Virtual Machine, but I want it on the real machine.

Please help. Thank you for your time.

Hello!

Welcome to the forums :D

Did you install Ubuntu in the Virtual Machine via CD? or did you install though a network service?

and

The CD you booted from was burnt from an ISO from the official Ubuntu site?

been a long time. I come back just wanna mark this thread as solved. :D

the problem was not the installation CD. It was the optical drive. It failed to read any type of CD / DVD.

thanks to damphoud for the quick reply. sorry it takes this long to thank you.
