Just wondering if there was a mobile version of the forum website, or any plans to create one. I tried some of the standards: m.ubuntuforums.org, mobile.ubuntuforums.org, ubuntuforums.mobi, but found nothing.

There may not be much of a demand for a mobile-formatted interface, but I know I'd use it.

My best suggestion for now, would be to browse via the archive section.

It has all the current threads, there's just no graphics ;)

Though of course it does start oldest thread first...

Thanks, I'll play with that. I can use the full version on my mobile, it's just a bit slow and it doesn't even come close to fitting on the screen. Not really a big deal, I was just curious.

Thanks again.

You could always use google's conversion utility here: http://www.google.com/gwt/n

If ubuntu-geek is interested, androidforums.com has a really good implementation of a mobile theme for vBulletin.

I think most phones that you would want to browse the web with can handle sites aimed at desktops, but it's not ideal. A simpler theme would definitely be appreciated by the growing number of smartphone users.

a true mobile theme would be great, but i certainly don't expect anyone to set that up just for one person (me). i checked out the archive and using google translator, but neither one allow for posting. i like hanging out in the beginners section and helping out in my free time and just thought i'd see if i could do that on the go.

thanks for the suggestions.

I'm interested in a mobile version of UF. I think we should have a poll somewhere to see how many mobile users there are out there, and I'm sure we'll see a pretty large number. I would create the poll, but I'm about to leave from work.

What phone would that be?

Well, I'm still interested. I checked out androidforums.com as p_quarles mentioned and have to agree that it's very nice.

And while buying new gadgets is always fun, it's not really the sort of solution I'm after. :)

I'd really appreciate a mobile friendly UF site also. This wouldn't just benefit the owners of latest greatest gadgets either. My gadget of choice right now is an old Dell Axim X5. It chokes on the fully caffeinated Ubuntu Forums site.

Year old post, any update on this? Seems like a simple vBulletin plugin install?

I can read the forums just fine on my nokia n800. I'm using miniOpera and it does have an 800 pixel wide screen. But yes, a mobile style chooser would be helpful.

This has been discussed recently here (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1624912).

The information in that thread is more up to date than this thread. For this reason I am closing this thread.

Please continue the discussion in the thread I linked to, if you wish to discuss further.

Thank you :)
