I am fully aware that this is going to sound all kinds of special, but, where do I save font files to? Obviously with windows I just saved it into the font folder but that isn't usually the case with Ubuntu.

Thanks for any help.

Thankyou for that. Sorry, I was in a hurry and didn't look (not an excuse really I guess).

OK. So I had assumed it had worked as when I refreshed the cache it came up with the name of the folder I wanted and it said eight fonts found and all that jazz. BUT, when I go into Writer it isn't listed. Am I missing something obvious here?

are you looking under the name of the font? the fonts appear under the name of the font not the folder.

I've just realised the font I'm trying to add is an .otf file. Would this be a problem? If so, is there anyway to overcome this?

yes. you want a true type font, i believe (.ttf). i dont know how you'd convert from one to the other. try googling it.
