Hello!
I've been trying to figure out, how to access enhanced features of my external Cirque Easy Cat Glidepoint USB touchpad.
By default, all basic functions work: click, doubleclick, corner-rightclick and vertical scrolling. But the standard accelleration and speed settings are too raw to make the pad a sensible mouse replacement. The Windows driver allows for a wide varietey of settings, so it can be configured to satisfy any needs.
There's hardly info around, on how to activate extended settings for (Cirque) Glidepoint devices for Linux, and if, mostly outdated and/or not applicable to an USB device (dedicated to PS2), like this thread:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=417492&highlight=glidepoint+cirque&page=4
All facts indicate that 'ALPS Glidepoint' touchpads are covered by the 'synaptics' touchpad driver at least to some extent. And they are based on the same hardware modules than the original Cirque products. Obviously, some people managed to get their touchpads to work, so it seems, especially internal laptop pads and PS/2 devices.
So, the question is, how could I make use of the 'synaptics' driver to apply enhanced touchpad configuration settings? And where can be useful information obtained, about those settings?
Here's the output of 'udevinfo' and 'cat':
udevinfo -a -p `udevinfo -q path -n /dev/input/event4`
cat /proc/bus/input/devices:
http://pastebin.com/mdc0e50f
Please help!
