When I increase the volume on my eeepc 900 using the function keys, the volume on ALL the microphone levels rises as well and gives an unbearable feedback noise. It didn't always do this, and I don't remember when it started.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling alsa, but nothing. Please help!

note* this only occurs in Gnome. all is swell when i boot in LXDE mode.

i fixed this by going to system- preferences- sound, then, in the first tab under 'audio conferencing,' changing 'sound capture' to 'silence.'
