So here's the backstory:
I used to have my external mic working regularly, skype, vlc and all.
But after I fiddled around with some sound stuff(i dont know what i fiddled with anymore) it stopped working on skype.
So I fiddled around some more and tried reinstalling some sound drivers and then lost my ability to record completely.
And then I tried getting that back and lost my sound drivers completely.
I'm at the point where I have my Alsa sound driver stuff back but none of my recording works.
So my question is: how can I get my external mic to work again.
Basic info: I'm running a
ubuntu 8.10
kernel: 2.6.27-9-generic
hp dv2000 [special edition]
Intel 82801H HD Audio Controller
Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance
