I am very new to linux and have a few questions regarding disk partioning and formatting.

I will be doing a clean install on a system that will serve as a front/back end combo. I want to make sure I do this right the first time so as to not have any trouble.

Currently I have a 250 GB disk(NTFS) and a 500 GB disk(NTFS). I will be transferring a bunch of media files (.mp3, xvid, divx) onto 3 1TB (raid5) linux format. However I don't know which format is best suited for mythtv files and recordings. How should I go about formatting these disks.

Also once a figure out which format to use I need to know if I need to set a mount point. Once again I am very new to linux and have never used mythtv.

Thanks again for any helpful suggestions.

I think anyone will need to know if they are both IDE or SATA ( Supposedly SATA have problems transfering more than 1Gygabite)maybe some basic info about difference in NTFS vs FAT32 (http://www.geekinterview.com/question_details/25319) and just for the record with that amount of disk space you dont need to setup any specific swap size unless you have veryyy low RAM.

Best of luck.
