HVR-1600 tuner, watch TV in fullscreen

I have the HVR-1600 tuner card and used the steps listed on the MythTV wiki for the correct driver installation. I am very new to MythTV and Mythbuntu so I don't know my way around yet. When I go to "Watch TV" I can watch my channels but they come through in like the 4:3 size. I have a widescreen LCD TV and I enjoy having the picture stretched out a little bit so it's a full screen.

Where do I make these adjustments? Everything fits the screen fine except when the tuner kicks in and I watch television

I found that pressing menu button on my remote (I don't know the keyboard equivilent) I can bring up some options that allow me to adjust many different properties for watching TV. This solves my question about the aspect ratio and stuff but these options don't safe. If I leave MythTV and return later to watch more TV I have to adjust all the options again. How can I make sure these settings save?
