I am using Ubuntu Hardy. I seem to have messed up the third party repos list, and so I now get an option that 547 packages are available.
I would like to remove all sources( including offcial ones) and re add them manually. Can some one tell me what are the sources that I should add.
I believe that some source I added is trying to update my system to ubuntu Intrepid. I do not wish to upgrade to Intrepud, so I have to be careful about what sources I add, I guess.
Thanks in advance.

Post your /etc/apt/sources.list and see how it looks.

Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal

cat /etc/apt/sources.list

I am really sorry..I have been ill and out of action for several weeks, so I could not follow up.
I managed to solve the problem myself. Thanks for your reply.
