Destructive recovery

Hi

I have a HP Pavilion 5000, that i want to format. I have read on HP's homepage that destructive recovery does that, but i want to be sure that it doesn't delete the recovery partition. Can i be 100% sure that it doesn't delete this partition? :)

The destructive recovery, just reformats the partitions and installs windows as it was when you first got the laptop. The restore partition is never touched. Have a look at this howto (http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=1778) for an overview of partitioning and formatting hard drives. Although this howto is specifically for windows the principals are the same, it is only the tools that are different for Linux.
