I have noticed that many users have had difficulty locating the report button, as it currently looks like it would show the user profile:

Perhaps a red exclamation point would get the point across better?

...or adding the text next to the Icon, instead of hiding it in the tooltip?

Why not move it to the right and use text like the quote button. This would make a more consistent UI anyway.

I believe it was here for a while, and people kept hitting the report button instead of quick reply: http://ubuntuforums.org/images/buttons/quickreply.gif

As it is people still frequently hit report instead of reply because report is directly above "New Reply".

The new icon should be a bright pink elephant.

Random thread tags are so fun to misinterpret...

So I didn't have an original thought? :(

Maybe upper right area? What is there to click there?
Wait...why wouldn't someone hit the back key after accidentally hitting report?

It has lived there as well. People tend to mistake it for a reply to the previous post. Also, you can click on the post number to display a single post. There are administrative functions (you don't see them of course) that work into the whole mess as well.

You'd be surprised how many of these we get even now. Several daily at least.

That said, I agree that the current implementation is not readily recognized. But that may be by design, I'm not sure.

In general if you want a staff memember to look at your threads or take more careful note of them. use the report button. http://ubuntuforums.org/images/buttons/report.gif
I still advocate that they should put text next to the report button.

I second the notion. And I may be crazy, but I feel like it used to be like that, about 3-6 months ago...

The report button did indeed (at one point) look exactly the same as the quote button....except for the fact it said "Report" not "Quote"...obviously :)

Thank you--it's very refreshing to know you're remembering something right :)
If nothing else, a more...intuitive...logo would be great--something with more red and exclamation points in it.

Sounds like a simple issue of editing the graphic, if you ask me.

+1 to fiddler's idea.
