This isn't a big deal, I am just curious as to what kind of logic might lie behind "Windows won't kill Linux" (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1040058) being considered a recurring discussion while "Windows will kill Linux" (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1039143) is not.

I think it's because it's to do with Windows 7, which hasn't been released yet.
I'd imagine once 7 gets released, they'll get moved into Recurring Discussions...though I'm personally not against it being in there now

I would like to think that it's the "inner logic" of the statement which makes one recurring and the other not, like "repeatedly will not" vs. "will kill once and for all". How do you repeatedly kill something?
However, I don't think there's any deeper meaning behind it beyond the one having been reported and moved and the other not.

Nope, no deeper meaning.
Basically, it is the "X vs Y" nature of those topics that make them belong in Recurring Discussions, not the forum's views on the long term success of one or the other operating system.
