Hi there...
I would like to show something to all of you, and explain what is here for...
about 2 years back, I started living with a friend of mine in Kortrijk to cut down on rental-prices... We opened up our appartement to everybody who wanted to join in... Thus 'Teh Lair' came to be.
I'm a collector of gaming consoles, at the moment, I've got 24 machines :-) Now, as we all know gaming is great! And its even better when you can play multiplayer-games cause then you can talk smack :-) 'Teh Lair' became a refuge for the students of Kortrijk, they came to play and get away from whatever it was they were 'running' from, school ( :D ), family, girlfriend etc etc... And we ( me and Undergod ) provided a place for them...

Last year, me and 4 of my friends collected 60 PC's and transported them to India, where we installed them in a very poor school, we installed Linux on them and thought them how to use it... While I was there however, Undergod found a girlfriend and decided they wanted to share the appartement together and kindly asked me to leave... I didn't want the concept of 'Teh Lair' to disappear into oblivion, so I rebuild it, better then ever...
This time however, I want to make this 'child' of mine grow, as big as it can get... Therefor, I need your 'help'... I've created a document aka 'teh Lair deal' that clearly states my intentions...
So, what is the deal over here?
Well, its pretty simple... Teh Lair˛ is available for everybody who wants to stay over... We Offer:
- A place to stay
- Shower
- Sauna
- Food (if wanted)
Also available:
- 10 Mbit internet-line
- 23 gaming-consoles from the Atari 2600 till the Xbox (XB360 coming soon!)
- some TV's
- LOADS of cool gaming-hardware
Read more to find out what we would like in return...
So you get the ideal place to stay and have fun while staying in Belgium... For your stay, there are a few facilities available...
- busstop with a bus every hour to get to the village ( www.delijn.be )
- in the village is a train-station that will get you to Antwerp (coolest city in Belgium) in about 30 minutes or to Brussels (capital of Europe) in an hour ( www.nmbs.be)
- there's a Discothčue, a bar and a dance-bar within walking distance (15 minutes) ( www.partytown.be )
- A very good PC & gaming-store in the village ( www.themoddingfactory.be )
- (hopefully soon) bikes that can be freely used
- 45 minute bike-ride to holland's Shops ;-) (or 15 minutes by car)
So you must be wondering what we want in return?
Well basicly I don't ask for anything ( at least not money ), I just want to get paid for whatever you use ( like if you drink my coke, i want some money for getting new coke ). What I do want in return is some of your knowledge or "1337"-ness :-) Soon I will be setting up a knowledge-base, the only thing I ask in return for your stay here is that you add something to it. Whatever you like, if you wrote some program, donate the code to it (well documented off course), if you have a brilliant howto, put that in there, if you're unbelievably good at a certain game, donate your save-games etc etc OR if you're great at painting / drawing, come draw something on the wall...
An example:
Every couple of months a great friend of mine comes by, he's a highly skilled java-coder from Romania that works for a company in Mumbai (India). Everytime he comes by, he brings loads of Indian incense (I love that stuff) ...

Talk to mistic about it... ( can be found at #lgcult on irc.quakenet.org... or tehLair@gmail.com )
So I invite you all to come by if you ever feel like travelling around in Belgium, or If you're touring Europe to pass by, OR if you live close enough, to become a regular visitor :-)
My dream is that others join me and also 'open up' their homes to the community... 2 basic rules, 1: no money for the stay can be asked (except for the costs you make) (basicly you're not supposed to earn money with it) and 2: as with open-source software, state your sources! ( as in me )
I'm setting up a website (currently hosted at my home since I don't have money for decent hosting yet) and I would like it if people who like the idea and also want to broaden the 'open' community or who maybe just want to come by, to contact me at tehlair@gmail.com, then I'll give you an account on the website ( which at the moment is still very basic, but I'm working on it).
I'm a mainframe-operator for a job and I work in shift so it might be a while before I answer as in 2 - 3 days, but I WILL answer ;-)
kind regards,
mistic
