I would like to set up a little file server on my network, but my wireless speeds are extremely slow. My main machine is running ubuntu 8.04 and the server currently has 8.10 on it. Both machines have wireless G cards and are hooked up to a G router running DD-wrt. My current speeds transferring a file to a samba share from the 8.04 machine to the server (8.10) are about 2.2kb - about the same as a slow dial up connection. This wont really work when I need to transfer a 6 gig file. When I boot the main machine into windows things improve 70kb, but that's still not where I need to be to make the server usable. I need to be able to transfer a 8-10 gig file over night at the very least. is this a reasonable goal?

Wow... we have the same problem, except I just have slow speeds in general. Does anyone have a fix for these slow wireless speed issues???
