I've been able to get ebox running on an Ubuntu 8.10 server. While I'm able to get in and play with the configurations I'm having difficulties making it do what I want.
Basically I'm currently interested it it doing three things:
1.I want to be able to use the ebox web interface from a different location. I've forwarded the ports to the server but when I go to: http://mybuisnessip:port/ebox I just get a server time out error in mozilla. I can ssh into the box so I know it's working, but the web ui isn't accessible via the internet.
2.I need it to function as a VPN gateway. This is the single most important feature for me. Reading the documentation it looks like I want to go with the “Road Warrior” set up, where I can have clients dialing in from home or another office o join the network at the main site.
3.I would like to set up a Jabber server for the office. However when I turn on the jabber server service, and point my jabber client at the machine's ip it doesn't work. How do I assign a domain to the machine? I would prefer to have the work computers (mix of xp pro and home) be able to just find the machine rather then manually edit hosts files on each client.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.
