In Amarok 2 when I try to rescan my computer for updated music the scanning music loading bar appears and it loads up until around 80% then it stalls for about 30 seconds then stops without updating. I just re-installed kubuntu 8.10 and I am not sure if I am missing a crucial package or something that I had before that made it work, any help is appreciated.

I have seen this as well. It seems as if it is not going to finish, but be patient, it will. I have 30 gig of files for tt to go through, and it takes that last 20 sometimes as much as 45 minutes. I think I may have some garbled metadata in a file or two and this affects it as well.

I think there will be continued progress in Amarok 2..It certainly is a lot better than a month ago. I would put it at about 60% of what 1.4 was but it will eventually get there...

After it stalls around 80% it stops loading completely, there is no progress bar. Then, when I wait hoping that it is just finishing, it begins to rescan my music again without updating my collection from before. I have let it update itself for an entire day and no matter how long I wait it still doesn't update

I have a similar problem - I have >10000 songs on an NTFS partition I mount on boot-up through fstab. Amarok 2 doesn't make it past 70% after 2-3 hours of scannning. I can see it finishes enumerating the files on disk, but after that it stops spinning the hard-drive and nothing happens for hours.

By the way, Songbird 1.0 finishes scanning in about 3 minutes on the same collection. I looked everywhere online for answers, but haven't gotten far.

Thanks
