Hello,

I have the WoW client up to 3.03 installed on Ubuntu 8.10. It opens up normally with wine but when it comes to enter a realm I get the message that my client is missing the files from Burning Crusade and I should go download it even though my client is up to date with WOTLK.

I have tried three ways of installing the client.
1) From disks till Burning Crusade and then update from Blizzard
2) Full game download from Blizzard
3) Download game and patch myself from www.wowwiki.com/Patch_mirrors
Every time I got the same problem.

I am using wine 1.0.1 but tried with a previous version also (can't remember which). I can't understand what is wrong and would appreciate any help or solution.

My hardware is:
AMD Athlon 64 3000+
2GB RAM
GeForce 7600GT

Go to the wow site and use the WoW Downloader and just re-install WoW. Best way to do it.

I had a similar issue on my ex's system.

It turned out that WOTLK had installed in a completely different directory than WoW and BC were in... this makes no sense but I suspect something similiar has happened here.

I manually patched the game so it's all in one folder, also didn't work. I am sure it's just a simple solution but I just can't see it.

Just created a trial account and logged in normally. I just can't understand why this is happening. Why can't I log in with my new full BC account...

You were already suggested to download the install from the WoW site after completely removing your current install.

Have you tried this method yet? It's known to work.
