Punkbuster enabling?

Hello,

I've just installed America's Army, both for Windows and for Linux. When I play under Linux it runs just as smooth (perhaps smoother), but at start it says something like "Cheat protection disabled", and I can't join server because "I am not running punkbuster".
Punkbuster starts normally when I play via windows.
How do I enable punkbuster in Linux? I tried to look in the manuals but they seem to be written for Windows only, found nothing in the README, and couldn't find even a command line help!

Can anybody explain me how to do that?

Click Deployment --> Internet and you'll see an "enable Punk Buster" check-box on the bottom.

Please don't shoot in my direction ;)

Well, I played a bit in Windows and from what I saw, it's quite hard just to shoot, not to mention to shoot in anybody's direction... ;)

Changing slightly subject, how do I launch the server in linux? I couldn't find any script to do that...

As for shooting it's plain aim & shoot, or just shoot down a corridor and you'll eventually kill someone or get killed yourself. :smile:

I know these games are supposed to come with Punkbuster, but I've found that you need to download the pbsetup tool to get it working properly.


wget http://websec.evenbalance.com/downloads/linux/pbsetup.run
chmod +x pbsetup.run
sudo ./pbsetup.run


and add your game(s) :)

worked just fine for me out of the box.
To update punkbuster i just had to connect to some server and wait a few minutes.

Yeah, for me too.
havOx I know how to shoot but I got fragged before I can even think of doing that!
I'm just too slow... :)
