I recently downgraded from 64 bit to 32 bit os, mostly to run boxee. I have to say that I am running one remote frontend and one master backend frontend combination and I have to say that the 32 bit os is much better in terms of load and speed than the 64bit os. according to top I am seeing loads of .32 .38 recording from two sources and live tv on two frontends. The 64bit os had loads of 1.3 1.5 and more. I am not sure why the big difference, but I won't be going back to the 64bit build.

Any one else finding themselves more and more in boxee and less and less in mythtv?

Mike

Hi,

I see abit higher load on 64bit but transcoding seems to be alot quicker (25-35%).

I don't use boxee so my frontend is a dedicated mythtv frontend.

Being that the only reason I would use Boxee is for hulu support and since that is available from MythVodka (and Boxee isn't available for amd64). I think i'll stick with mythfrontend

I think Boxee is going to obsolete mythfrontend for a lot of functions. It does video better than mythvideo, it does music way better than mythmusic, and don't even get me started about mythstream.

BTW you can run 32-bit Boxee on a 64-bit Intrepid box, just search the boxee forums http://forums.boxee.net

Unlikely that non myhttv applications will replace myhtfrontend IMHO. The new MythUI code is realy nice. Check the new features in the test theme Terra:
