I'm stuck..hell looking for something pretty specific.

I just converted one of my boxes to become the media center for my tv. It seems that gnome is too heavy for the machine. I'm looking for a front end that i can just browse my directory tree and be able to select a file and play it in vlc.

Yes it seems simple, but i cant find anything. I would run mythtv, but it seems waaayy to heavy too.

Thanks in advance :)

Xfce is considered to be quite user-friendly and it uses a lot less resources than GNOME and KDE. You can also try Fluxbox, but it's harder to configure.
