Hi. I have a macbook 1,1 and I've been using xubuntu for quite some time. I love ubuntu, don't get me wrong, but I'm passing my macbook to my brother and he needs it in winXP.

Problem is, I can't seem to get any of the installation cds working when I boot up. I don't think I created any partitions in my macbook. I tried using a Linux installation cd to remove any partitions (if I made any) but the Linux installation cd doesnt work either. Neither does the windows xp. i haven't tried with a mac osx cd yet. do you think that might work?

I pressed every shortcut key on my keyboard (F1 to F12, C, D, command, alt/option...i seem to have tried any and all combinations...) It just keeps going to GRUB (with the exception of F12, which ejects the cd before going to GRUB). I'm really clueless. Could someone help me please? Help is much much appreciated. :)

The cds don't work, no partitions created, how did you install Xubuntu in the first place?

if you are passing the machine on, it probably the best idea to boot from the OSX installation DVD (hold alt during bootup until you see a menu). From there you can run Disk Utility and wipe your disk by repartitioning back to ne large partition. Then you can reinstall OS X from scratch and use BootCamp to install Windows if that is your plan.

thanks cyberdork for the help. i finally had time to move my macbook back to mac os and it worked! yay! now to deal with bootcamp. haha...anyway, thanks again! :)

but i do wonder...why does only the mac os cd work and not the other cds?

Not sure... You didn't really give any detail about what CDs you had, how you got them, etc.
