It took quite some time to get a nice kernel config for my system but now I want to compile the newer 2.6.28 kernel and I definitely don't want to do those settings all over again.
So I have some questions about what would happen if I just copy the old config to the source dir:
1.) What will the (default) state of new kernel options be?
2.) How will now missing (or broken) kernel options be treated?
3.) How will problems with new dependencies be treated?

Edit: Oh I forgot about "make oldconfig" but still questions 2. and 3. are of interest.
