Plz help to set up wi-fi eventhough evrytn works!!!

i'm using ubuntu v8.10 and have atheros 802.11g wireless lan card with a driver installed on my acer aspire 5100 laptop, my wireless network also works as i checked it on my mobile. However my network manager doesnt find any wireless networks. So does anyone know why it does that, and how to fix it.

you need the atheros driver installed.i had trouble the same.with mine i could see the driver was installed but would not work.

and after kernel updates u will have to re do all that to get wireless up again.
make sure to save both of those threads in ur browser favorites as well.

I am new to all this and am lost as how to do the driver update. Is there a dummy thread I can use to do the driver update.I want to fix my Acer Aspire 1642z, but I do not have any idea where to start.
