Hi, I have a new computer well a year old computer. I have windows xp on it.

currently I been trying to hotswap a xbox hd into that pc so I can fix a error I get on my xbox a error 21.

well after not succeding with the hotswap. My new computer now dosen't load windows xp.

like I see the bios and then after biso I get nothing but a blank screen with a text courser blinking.

I wait and wait and nothing happens. I look at the led that shows it's working... it would be on for about 15 min and then the let that shows the computer is busy working... it then turns off. I keep restarting the computer and I still get the same result. I don't even reach to any windows loading screen.

what should I do??? Should I just pop in my windows xp cd and try an repair the problem that way?

I'm not familiar with hot swapping. Did you mount the drive in your computer? Did you slave it to your current drive via the jumpers on the drives?

This sounds like a hardware failure. Is there any chance of ESD killing your mobo?

Can you access your Bios and see what it's set to boot from first? Set it to CD drive and try an installation disk (XP if you have it, Ubuntu if you don't). If you can boot from a CD then it's probably not your hard drive and your going to need to dig deeper than I know to tell you.
