So I have one of the ultra thin aluminium keyboards, and I love it.

One thing I've noticed though is that I need to press the Fn key to use the function keys as functions, otherwise they act as multimedia keys.

Is there anyway to reverse this? I.e. so I have to press Fn + F8 to pause music etc?

Welcome to our little world Joeb!

Yes, there has been a lot of debate about which way should be the default operation with these keyboards. Your current operation mode is the default when used on a Mac and that was carried over into Linux.

Thanks cyberdork :)

I know that's the default in a Mac (I switched it!) I use the function keys a lot more than I use the multimedia keys that's all.

Thanks that worked great :)

Now I just need to figure out how to get a hash symbol because alt+3 doesn't seem to want to give me one :( lol.

And the Super (a.k.a cmd) key keeps confusing me ;)

you might have found one of the many apple keyboard layout bugs (especially prevalent on non-US keyboards...)

for me, # is Shift+3, so you could try that.

I think I have found one of those bugs ;)

Shift+3 for me is £ as I have a British English keyboard. Alt+3 seems to be shortcuts for tabs etc.

This could be an issue for my C programming ;)

Hahaha, didn't think of this one. The right alt key is equivilant to AltGr on normal keyboards, so I tried that, and it worked. So right Alt+3 for UK keyboards seems to work :)
