On PPC, Intrepid, TiBook G4
Whenever I run Thunderbird java starts up and before too long is eating up 80-90% of CPU. I kill java and everything is fine, until I start T-Bird again. Does anyone else have this problem?

Since I read your post I have installed Thunderbird. I left it on overnight and it seems I have then same problem. Have you found a solution or any help on the issue?

I haven't received any help. I kill java every time I use T-Bird which doesn't seem to matter or affect anything.

You should be able to go into the preferences panel and disable java.

Younknow I have had Thunderbird on for about four hours and see no sign of high Cpu usage. Off and on all day I have been fowarding Emails and working to get my contacts moved. Last night I just left it and in the morning cpu usage was like you said about 90%. I had torrents running also but the never exceed about 5%. It is curious.
What preference panel is he talking about to disable Java? I don't find anything like that in Thunderbird.

The way I disabled java was in Thunderbird preferences on the advanced tab I clicked the Config Editor button. Then typed java in the filter and set enable_java to false.
