I was at my college when this happened to me....I think it happens when I insert a Ethernet cable into my computer to enable Internet Access, ( I don't know if that is the case) anyway for some reason if I give the Ubuntu more than a few tasks the Ubuntu OS freezes (crashes) and the Numb lock and Caps Lock indicators are flashing repetitively. The pattern of when it happens is sparatic and I don't know what the ture cause is or how to take care of it... Can anyone help?

Do you have an Intel WiFi 4965 card? The drivers for that card are known to cause crashes in Ubuntu 8.10, and often the computers freezes with the flashing
Numb and Caps lock, as you mention.
