View Full Version : looking for tandy color (colour) computer emulator for ubuntu

i stil own my coco 1,2,3's and tons of discs etc and am looking for an emualtor for ubuntu that works


in Win XP i used to run m.e.s.s or VCC (http://vcc6809.bravehost.com/) and they fan fine, how do i do this in ubuntu???

Umm... the only ones I can find are SDLMESS (http://rbelmont.mameworld.info/?page_id=163) or just MESS for Linux (http://www.mess.org/download.php). There is also this one here (http://www.6809.org.uk/dragon/xroar.shtml) that might work... but unfortunately it only works with the Colour Computer 1 and 2, and not 3.

Another option you might want to try is running one of the Windows Colour Computer emulators under Wine.

Just buy a PS3, and everything will go fine..


the ps3 has an emulator for the Coco 3 does it??

The CoCo 3 had a different graphics chip. That's probably the reason it won't work. It was a 8/16 bit chip. Very nice work.

tried running a few emeulators i found for windows in wine and no success

usually i just get the green screen and no "disk extended basic" start up message

i have a copy of my rom from my coco 3 and the emulators run fine on a pc running xp pro only

i have even tried running them inside xp pro in side virtual box and they will startup and give me an ok prompt them lock up

SDLMess should work as well as MESS did under XP.

Anyway, looking in the Ubuntu repositories...

xtrs - emulator for TRS-80 Model I/III/4/4P computers

Try that one?

i will check it out

the models you refer to came out before the coco 1,2,3

the ones cited above are the ones with the black and white screens and were painted a "mercedies silver" colour
