View Full Version : [all variants] Applet to wake/sleep on lan

Hi everyone!

I got a number of computers on the network now which I use now and then for numerous tasks, ranging from doing some calculations or playing music to making backups. The thing is: they don't need to be on all the time, so I let them sleep and use wake on lan to wake them.

Now the question is whether there exists an applet which can wake computers on a network. There is the remote desktop viewer to do VNC kinda stuff, but it can't actually wake them. I am looking for a comparable program, allowing me to select the computer I want to wake up in order for it to do so.

Ideally, the same program should also be able to make the computer sleep again, but that might be somewhat more difficult as there is no easy magic package command, or is there? If this is not possible, I'll just let it sleep after a short duration of being idle.

Does anyone have a solution for me?

Thanks in advance,

kind regards,

Frank
