Hi Everyone,

I have been using Ubuntu (8.04) for quite a while now but i have one issue which i cannot find a solution to.

When downloading torrents the system will randomly freeze. I have tried about 7 or 8 different torrent clients but they all experience the same problem. I am using an Atheros Wireless NIC:

02:04.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR2413 802.11bg NIC (rev 01)

I dont suspect that this is a RAM issue as some other threads suggest for system freezes. I would like to know where to begin diagnosing this as i cant leave torrents on for any length of time for fear they will crash.

thanks,
Joe

I get the exact same problem. After a few minutes the window freezes up and the processes become un-killable, resource hungry zombie processes. Everytime I launch a client I more or loess have to restart my machine immediately afterwards.

I can't say this about 8.04 anymore, i'm running 11.04 on my newer laptop, but I can say in my experience qbittorrent has been by far the most stable, (and fast) client.

Hope this helps!
