I realize that there's more than just these three, but they seem to be the most popular. Just wondering what everyone's preference is when it comes to a distro for older machines.

I have to go with slitaz on this one. Just because it looks better.

SliTaz! 28 MB iso, 30 MB of RAM used at idle and quick and easy to install. This distro will install and run on just about anything!

I've never tried Sli-taz or whatever it's called, I have tried puppy and DSL though and my favourite out of them has to be Puppy.

DSL because it's for the older machines.
When it comes to the lightest usable Linux distribution however, my vote goes to BasicLinux.

I have to go with DSL on this one, though I enjoy SliTaz.
My actual personal preferences are DeLi, BasicLinux, ttylinux, or NetBSD.

NetBSD is awesome especially when you need an operating system for your toaster :D, otherwise I like DeLi too but Slitaz would be my preference of the three.

The Boxpup derivative of Puppy looks beautiful and runs well too.

Also watch out for Woof, currently in alpha, by Barry Kauler, the creator of Puppy Linux. It has all the features of Puppy but is based on Ubuntu packages.
