Wonderful to see! Thanks for the hard work! Another version of ubuntuguide was in the work but the excitement fizzled quickly and the work never completed.

As I was setting up Breezy this past weekend, I really missed ubuntuguide and it reinforced the value of this type of guide vs. the wiki and the official Ubuntu Starter Guide. All are of great value, but ubuntuguide is my ideal reference source.

So, glad to see a new version up and running!!! :) :) :)

Perhaps you could contact the maintainer of ubuntuguide.org. I know he was open to have his domain point to a new version of the guide created by someone else. Since you've now done this, I wonder if he would consider pointing to your guide.

Just wanted to tell people that over the past couple of weeks, I've been using the new Ubuntu Guide for Breezy at http://easylinux.info/wiki/Ubuntu

It's solid and clearly picking up from where Chua's version left off. And better than Chua's, anyone can register and update it or take part in discussions to make changes. Chua was always excellent and incorporating suggestions, I should note. So, it's more community-driven this time, but it's also being heavily worked on by Orvils.

Check it out!

Orvils, is there an official thread on ubuntuforums.org (this thread, for example?) that we could link to on the guide, so people can link between ubuntuguide discussions on the forum more easily?

I don't know how to edit wikki things but i want to point out some things regards to

http://easylinux.info/wiki/Ubuntu

This guide is almost copy of 5.04 guide so it need real upgration to get effective to provide help 5.10 users.

Such as jre installation. This can't be done as mentioned over there as for installation bin file is ought to download and converted to deb.

It can be modified with correspondence to guide for 5.10 hosted at

http://www.makuchaku.info/amnesty/

If you want to make it real effective then do make changes with refrence to

http://www.makuchaku.info/amnesty/

Actually, that section re: installing jre has been updated for 5.10. The following command will work but requires the PLF repo for Breezy to be added.

sudo apt-get install sun-j2re1.5

This command wouldn't work based on your guide's instructions, as you don't give users the option of adding the PLF repo, which now has a number of packages that backports used to have.

That's not to diss your guide. The more, the merrier. Keep up the good work!

P.S. By the way, the easylinux guide can be modified and updated by anyone. Is this possible with your guide?
