I'm using Ubuntu 8.04. I try to delete songs through Rhythmbox, but it won't let me due to lack of permission. I checked, and the permissions of the files are set so anyone can create or delete them. The files are on my only HD, the same one Ubuntu is installed on.

Try to delete the files from the command line or file browser window and see if it lets you there. If not, check that you are the owner of the files and that you have rwx permissions for the containing directories.

If you can delete them normally, then I don't know what the problem could be.

I can delete them normally without even going to the command line. The music has been copied from my mp3 player, so deleting songs this way is not practical since they are not organized in any way.
