KDE 3.5.x

I want to use the old kde intill a later version of kde 4 is developed.

is kde 3.5 still maintained?

3.5 is maintained. I think 8.04 comes with it as default. 8.10 is using 4.1

I'm using 4.1 on a periodic basis and it seems to be running great, much better then 4.0

yea i had a few probs, like my function buttons on my t61 laptop didn't work, and a few others, went back to gnome, but am frustrated with it.

Sigh ** guess i have to go back to 8.04

And in turn 4.2 beta is much better than 4.1 and about equally stable :p

Hardy would be your best bet but there might be a kde3 metapackage in intrepid?

ok how do i update to 4.2? I have all updates and it is still 4.1? what do i need to enable?

I should tell you that KDE 4.2 is still beta (albeit pretty stable for me(
