Hey all, heres my question:
I did a clean install of Breezy a lil while ago and realized that I never got around to installing the nvidia drivers for my GeForce FX 5200. I had the nvidia drivers from Universe repositories and a few games, (Doom 3 etc.) working fine in Hoary. I tried to do an apt-get install of the nvidia drivers in Breezy, no such luck. I read somewhere that I should use the drivers from nvidia so I did. I installed an old driver, (7667) as it was supposed to be more stable. And after a little tinkering, it seemed to be working.
However, I tried to install Quake 2 (both from synaptic, and just the standalone Loki installer) and am running into problems with fullscreen mode. If I bump up the resolution past my desktop resolution and select fullscreen mode, it just pasts a large window of the game on my desktop. A window that is too large for the screen. Additionally, the Quake 4 Demo seems to be running like a dream except that it enters fullscreen by showing me a 640x480 window (which is what its running at as my computer isn't too fast) surrounded by black.
Should I upgrade the driver, or is there something else I can do? I would imagine its a driver problem. Any help is appreciated.
