View Full Version : [ubuntu] 8.10 Can't connect to hidden SSID automatically

Hello everyone.

I am unable to connect to my hidden, WPA2 secured wireless network AUTOMATICALLY. If I set my SSID to broadcast, it works perfect.

I'd like not to broadcast if possible.

Is there a solution?

Thank you!

Jackie

I have the same issue. I am connecting to a hidden network with no other security. It is a guest network at a customer site so I have no control over their settings. Looks like a big bug too me!

EDIT: I'll add a little more information for you. My laptop connects to many different access points with no problems what so ever. Some have encryption, some are wide open. The hidden one is the only one that I can't connect to. A quick Google search show many others having the same issue:

Same issue with a friend's dell laptop with jaunty. Connects fine to networks with visible SSID. However, when its hidden, it just wont connect.

Has anyone tried this:

Favux has explained here http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1010650

Didnt quite work for me. I was able to get a connection after lots of fiddling but after a reboot all was not good. Hopefully a fix in Karmic!
