View Full Version : [kubuntu] Screensaver locks regardless of setting

I've looked through this forum, but haven't seen this particular problem. I'm new to Kubuntu, but not to KDE.

I installed the various kscreensaver and Xscreensaver packages, but using the GUI, I am not setting the system to lock--but it does. It is not "frozen" but fully responsive. It appears that there is a config file somewhere that is overriding my user settings in my home directory.

I have searched every instance of xscreensaver and manually edited them to set Lock to False, and set the screen power off to True, but the system always locks and never shuts power down. This worked under my previous distro (Linspire) and on a test install of Ubuntu. It does not work under Kubuntu 8.10.

I've seen a lot of threads here and elsewhere about screensaver problems, but none of them seem to "match up" with mine. Has anyone else seen this? TIA.
