I'm considering kde 3.3.2 backports from Hoary Universe. Any thoughts? Any serious KDE users here?

As far as I am concerned, there is no such thing as a serious KDE user. :D
I installed k3b and absolutely hate looking at it. I can't stand the "Crystal Blue" icon theme.
Now if you can port over the functionality without that grotesque theme / skin, then yeah, go for it.
But as far as I am concerned, keep KDE out of Ubuntu. If I wanted KDE I'd run SUSE or Slack or Debian or Mandrake or Gentoo or...

Hmm, well, Hoary's preview will be out around March, at which time Warty's backport branches will freeze.
I don't think it's worth the effort; I'm waiting 2 months for my brand-new KDE desktop!

You are aware that KDE, including icons, is themeable, right? :D
Imagine someone dismissing GNOME out of hand because they hated Glider, or installed and promptly wiped out Ubuntu because they didn't like the Human theme. That's how I felt when I read your comment. 8-)
