Xbox 360 guitar troubles.

I have a wired, Xbox 360 Rock Band guitar controller that I can't get to work. I have followed instructions on an earlier thread here:

I have also followed the instructions on the Ubuntu Documentation site:

And I have tried a whole bunch of different methods from different websites.
No matter what I do, I get an error message when I try to make a makefile for the driver. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know if you tried this yet, but by following the directions in the link below, I was able to get the Rock Band Xbox360 controller working on Ubuntu Hardy Heron 8.04.

The only thing is that you must connect the controller /after/ log-in, otherwise it does not work.
