I am new to ubuntu - never done more than play with it, but I am working to make my main computer work in linux only...

It is a quad core Intel cpu, 5 GB ram, dual layer burner, and 400 GB hard drive... 8600 GT - I don't play games, and I know it is a bit overkill... but I got a good deal. Thing is, I have installed ubuntu, but it keeps giving me a message about Gstreamer plugins... I have no sound, on anything.

What do I do from here?

Open synaptic package manager, and do a search for gstreamer, and look for the plugins. Install the gstreamer plugins good, bad and ugly. If they are already installed try clicking reinstall.
