Hi all,

3D acceleration in virtual machines! Yup, no spelling error there.

This tutorial will teach you how to easily enable 3D acceleration in Windows guests running on VMware products, so you can run applications and, even more importantly, GAMES that require DirectX. This works both for Windows and Linux hosts.

Here you go:

http://www.dedoimedo.com/computers/virtualization-3d-support-vmware.html

If you need to know how to install VMware Tools, see here:
http://www.dedoimedo.com/computers/vmware-tools.html

And thread here:

In the second article, we'll discuss VirtualBox and OpenGL. In the third article, we'll discuss Linux hosts and Linux guests.

Comments are most welcome.

Happy New Year!!

Cheers,
Dedoimedo

Thank you for the article - I just bumped my other thread asking if anyone knew anything about this, then saw this. Have you tested this with VMWare workstation btw?
