Hello!

I plan to install freeDOS so I can keep my PC's BIOS up to date.
Although I have Win XP to format a floppy into MS-DOS 8, I plan to remove it, and the floppy disk or drive wont last forever.

I need to install it so it will not overwrite the MBR, GRUB is installed, somewhere.
Any help, or can I do a plain install?

PS: If this should go some where else, please inform me.

FreeDOS won't touch the MBR by default (you won't loose GRUB), although you might want to make boot CDs instead.

Yes why install it all you need to make is a boot cd.

I have the Live CD.

If I'm going to get an HDD install able DOS, I might as well make use of that and get a few programs. An interface you can kick out is a big programming advantage... but proably not easy to utilize.

And something about older software and a command prompt seems to attract my attention. And I'm haveing trouble installing the Linux version of the ZSNES Super Nintendo emulator, posted in another fourm.

Thanks for the help!
