...Even though my laptop is fairly powerful :D

I just wanna see what they're like... what's a ubuntu/debian based netbook distro or the distro with best hardware support?

netbook distro's are usually specific to the netbook.

So I can't try something like gOS or linpus because of severely lacking hardware support?

sure you can, don't know about the hardware support, but gos ran fine for me. if you can find it try it, there's usually a link on there sites, cause it's open source. you can also just install the parts you want on to your current install.

i did a minimal install of intrepid and built it up. runs great, but it takes a little know-how and patience. btw this was on my eeepc 2g surf. (the puniest mini laptop around)

I've run them in virtual box.

You can install the Ubuntu netbook interface within ordinary Ubuntu. In reality, what people want is a real operating system with a netbook-specific interface; and Ubuntu with the netbook launcher is exactly what we want!
