The combination of Ardour and an M-Audio 1010LT has been intriguing to me for several months. I finally acquired the M-Audio card, but have been unable to get Ardour and the M-Audio connected for recording.

My system is a Gigabyte MA790X-DX4 motherboard with a AMD Phenom 9500 quad core processor and 4 gig of RAM. The video card is an PNY nVidia 8400 GS with 256 meg of RAM. I'm running the latest version of Ubuntu Studio. After four days of frustration trying to get all the components to connect properly, I'm out of ideas regarding how to make this thing work. I've searched the web but each article I've found seems only to give bits and pieces of a possible solution.

I've used the Envy24 Control Utility, have all volumns set to 90%, qjackctl appears to show all connections and is connected, but I get no audio in or out

Has anyone created a HOWTO for interfacing the M-Audio 1010LT with Ardour in Ubuntu Studio? If so, please point me to the HOWTO. If not, and you have knowledge of how to put these components together, I could use some step by step instructions.

I haven't tried recording with Audacity. I've been focusing on using Ardour. I've tried recording directly through the microphone inputs and through an Alesis Firewire 16 mixer using analog outputs to the 1010LT.

Hi. This is so frustrating. I have a M-audio Delta 44 sound card and Ubuntu Studio, and can't figure out how to set up the card. I can't record anything in Audacity. The sound card is definitely recognised by the system, but nowhere can I find out how to connect it up with anything. Or where on the computer to even look.

I've got the Envy 24 control, but have no idea how to set it up, or what the menu items even mean, which radio buttons to select, or anything. Is there a "howto" on setting up the cards to be able to use them with Audacity?

I've got my setup working after a fashion. I messed around with the settings, and have set up the Envy 24 in a similar way to the guy before me. It works now, but how well I don't know. The volume seems quite low to me. I'm off to study the manuals, Wiki and community forum for Audacity now to see if I can get some recording going.

There seems to be quite a bit of documentation for the actual recording programs - it's the setup to get everything working in the first place that seems to be lacking, advice wise. Good luck to those of you who still haven't got it working. You know that old saying - "You don't know Jack"? That's what I feel like a lot of the time.
