This is a rather basic question, but one that I have not been able to figure out. I want to be able to remotely access my Mythbuntu as I travel a lot. I am having trouble configuring vnc--I am not sure that I am doing it properly. And what is the best means of accessing my Mythbuntu from an Windows XP laptop. I would appreciate any assistance.

If I understand your question correctly:

You could use mythweb and ssh to control the mythbuntu backend from outside your lan instead of vnc.
If you are on the same network and you want to watch content from your mythbuntu machine on an XP machine then you can use mythplayer (http://www.sudu.dk/mythtvplayer/). It even has a live tv function now.
