Well I have this very old laptop it is a Macintosh PowerBook 3400c
its specs can be found here (http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/powerbook/stats/mac_powerbook3400c_240.html). It boots up well even through its battery doesn't hold a charge. It is able to get on the internet using a cable and it only has a floppy drive. Is there a way to get a distro such as puppy linux or damn small linux on this?

thank you:)

16MB RAM. DSL / Puppy won't run (even if they supported PPC - which I don't think they do).

There are some single floppy Linux around, most of them are for repairs and routers. Here are some there are more around if you spend some time on google.

if it's working leave it alone, it's probably the best it will be.
it already has several things against it, first it being a ppc chip, which rules out 90% of linux's, then there's the 16mb ram, oouch.

I doubt any of those will run on a PPC.

I agree with this. However, if you really want to ditch the default, it may support the NetBSD macppc port (http://www.netbsd.org/ports/macppc/). I'm not sure about the newest version and your hardware, however, 2.0.1 is listed in the Model Support (http://www.netbsd.org/ports/macppc/models.html#powerbook) for your exact machine, though it looks like some issues were involved. Hope this helps! Good luck!

I know Macs and PCs are ... apples and oranges  ... but it is possible (http://kmandla.wordpress.com/2008/11/24/success-icewm-1236-and-xorg-73-at-100mhz16mb/) to get something running on 16Mb. Think of it as a challenge. ... :D
