I need the prefs.ini file from someones install as my windows install is untouchable at present.

I hear that it can get passed the first splash screen and load up correctly so long as you have a prefs.ini file sorted out in the correct place for the program to use.

Sorry my first post was a bit crap :)

I have heard from several sources that this client will work, so long as you already have a prefs.ini created... otherwise it just crashes after the first splash screen.

Unfortunately I installed my eve client on an NTFS spanned array which means I cant access it at all from linux, and my windows install has died on me, and I have no disk to replace it. So obtaining the prefs.ini is going to be impossible on my part.

What I need is someone who plays it, just to shove it up here (copy and paste if needed) so I can download it and insert it into my eve folder on ubuntu. Hopefully that should fix the crashing problems :)

Thanks for the info :)

I'm busy installing wine now, and once I have that, I'll see if EVE will run, if not, I'l grab the prefs.ini file off my windows drive. And I'll post it here...

Hey here is my prefs.ini file. Now can you guys tell me how to go about setting it up under linux? It and WoW are pretty much the only things keeping me using WindozeXP.

I'm pretty sure WoW works well under wine.

About eve, I installed it successfully and ran it on Wine and Xwine, it did not start.

so what emulator and/or compatibility layer are you using for it?

WoW and Eve both run under cedega. I had to copy a windows install for the latest patch(1.10.1) because it is so small that I wasn't fast enough to get the patcher to work(see transgaming.org forum if you are interested in the details). Eve just worked without any messing around with .ini files.

Of course, cedega costs $5 a month, but for me it has been more than worth it.
