Hp g50 wireless issues

I recently bought an hp G50-123nr, and after I got rid of vista, and put hardy on it, I realized my wireless wasn't working. The hardware button (which I assume switches the wireless card on or off) is stuck on red, no matter what I do. I tried updating to intrepid, but no luck. The restricted drivers for atheros were running, but network-manager wouldn't even show that a wireless device was connected. I tried ndiswrapper, to no avail.

Anyone had a similar problem? I need some help here.

I have a similar issue. Just got done installing ubuntu on my laptop and the wireless toggle button on the laptop is stuck on red. Don't know what to do.
