so i've had this problem for as long as i've had wow in linux and thats there simply not having a mini map in WoW. well to be precise its only not there when it does a change from outdoor to indoor (such as walking outside Orgrimar i have a minimap but once i go inside i have a white circle)

im fairly confident in that its an issue with my ATI graphics card because any problem i have had that is WoW releated seems to stem from that fact.

as of right now its is the last obstacle keeping me from a full linux conversion from windows so im sure you can understand my need to fix this error.

please and thanks for any and all help!

well its safe to say that its not an ati only problem. i have Nvidia and i have the same problem, only in my case it doesnt turn white it turns invisible. the round border is there and all the map markers are there (i.e. the arrow showing what direction ur facing and markers that questhelper have) but all the terrain is not shown. It makes finding ur way through mazes and dungeons hell. unfortunately I have no idea how to fix this, but maybe it will help to rule out the video card since I have the same problem using Nvidia.

That's entirely and ATI issue-- I've got it too. It because Blizzard uses a certain shader for the minimap indoors that the ATI linux driver doesn't support currently. So until ATI fixes this, there isn't much that can be done :(

If its just an ati issue then why am i having the same problem when i use Nvidia?

maybe same reason? the linux driver for your nvidia may also lack the shader needed.
